Dr. Raymond Leung is the Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Altai Technologies Limited.
Dr. Leung was the Chairman of TDK China and SAE Magnetics. He also served as the Executive Vice President of TDK Corporation, Japan, the first non-Japanese officer appointed for the post since its establishment in 1935. With his foresight and innovative thinking, Dr. Leung guided SAE to become the world's largest independent supplier of magnetic recording heads for HDD industry. Meanwhile, he was appointed as the board of director of Imation Corporation, a US based company focusing on digital storage technology.
Raymond is well regarded in the technology community as a high-tech entrepreneur with a mission of nurturing and growing high-tech industry. Dr. Leung has extensive experience driving new technology from vision to reality. Over the years, he built a number of successful startups in Greater China, such as Amperex Technology Limited (later known as ATL). The company grows to become the leading lithium ion/polymer battery solution provider in the world and became a member of TDK Group in 2005. Being the leader in the industry, its products have been used by Fortune 100 companies in mobile devices and electrical vehicles.
Dr. Leung has been very active in community services. He is a council member of City University of Hong Kong. He was also an ex-council member of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and now he serves as court member of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University; a member of advisory committees at numerous universities and government agencies. He was also the economic advisor of a number of cities in China and North Dakota of the US, and a member of the 12th Dongguan Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference. In charitable arena, Raymond is the co-founder and Chairman of the charitable OLPC APAC, Board Member of Give2Asia U.S. and Chairman of Give2Asia Hong Kong to provide a wider platform for improving the quality of life to the children in deprived areas in Asia.
Raymond is conferred Honorary Fellow of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and City University of Hong Kong, Industrial Fellow, by WMG, the University of Warwick and received an Outstanding Alumni Award from each of Hong Kong Polytechnic University and City University of Hong Kong. Currently, Dr. Leung is an Adjunct Professor in Electronic Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering of The Chinese University of Hong Kong and City University of Hong Kong. In recognition to his contribution to city’s economic growth and development, he was bestowed an Honorary Citizen of Dongguan City.
Raymond graduated with an Engineering Doctorate (EngD) degree from the City University of Hong Kong.
