Open up Cross-Border Medical Services to Build a Leading International Medical Center

In order to accelerate the restoration of global cross-border circulation, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (the Greater Bay Area) will be integratedly developed, and healthcare development will be the first priority. Recently, the “Measures for accelerating the cross-border connection of medical services (referred to as “Cross-Border Medical Measures”) (《关于加快推动医疗服务跨境衔接的若干措施》) in Shenzhen was officially promulgated. The "Cross-Border Medical Measures" has responded to a number of topics that public concerned. A total of 11 measures in three aspects focusing on the “blocking points” that are most urgently needed to be opened up in the cross-border medical service links in the Greater Bay Area, to promote the freer cross-border circulation of high-quality medical and health resources, making it easier for Shenzhen people to see famous doctors from Hong Kong and use foreign new drugs, for Hong Kong and Macao residents to seek medical treatment in the mainland, and for cross-border transfer of patients to become more convenient. At the same time, Shenzhen government strengthen cooperation with the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government to further expand the scope of cross-border medical services, optimize the port clearance mode of medical transfer vehicles, and explore the establishment of a barrier-free green channel for emergency medical transfer.


On April 15, Shenzhen Luohu Hospital Group (罗湖医院集团) signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Aurora Medical Technology Hong Kong (Aurora-HK) Co., Ltd (奥洛瑞(香港)医疗科技集团有限公司). The two parties will cooperate to provide high-quality medical services for residents of the Greater Bay Area, and those Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and foreign residents who live in Luohu District. Leaders of Luohu District Health Bureau, Zheng Liguang (郑理光) and Kong Shu (孔舒), leaders of Luohu Hospital Group, Sun Xizhuo (孙喜琢), Lin Zhiwen (林志文) and Huang Weiming (黄伟明), and Olivia Ho Cheng (何淑圭), CEO of Aurora-HK, attended the signing ceremony together.

With many Hong Kong residents living in Luohu, Luohu Hospital Group attaches great importance to cross-border medical services

Due to the special geographical location of Luohu, there is a large number of Hong Kong residents living there. Luohu Hospital Group has been paying great attention to cross-border medical services, introducing international advanced medical technology, expanding service fields and improving medical technology and service levels. The Group has introduced an internationally renowned fetal medicine expert, Prof. Liu Zijian (刘子建), an MD from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, to provide maternal-fetal medicine services. An infirmary has been set up in the mainland port of Hong Kong West Kowloon Station to provide medical service for transit passengers. The Luohu port laboratory which belongs to the Group's inspection center has also been opened.


Statistics show that about 15,000 outpatient visits and 400-500 inpatient visits are made by Hong Kong residents at Lo Wu Hospital each year, and the medical services are well recognized by Hong Kong residents.

Jointly build an international leading breast cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation center

The cooperation between Luohu Hospital Group and Aurora-HK is to further respond to the State Council's strategy to develop and construct the Greater Bay Area, by promoting cooperation between Shenzhen and Hong Kong in the field of medical technology and medical services, sharing advantages and opportunities, and promoting the development of cross-border medical services in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.

Based on Hong Kong’s sound scientific research system and rapid transformation of scientific research achievements in Shenzhen, and advantage of the “Hong Kong Medicine Connection (港药通)” program implemented in the Greater Bay Area, medical software and hardware of Luohu Hospital Group, cross-border practice of Hong Kong doctors will be introduced through Aurora's resources in Hong Kong to attract patients from Hong Kong and Macao to seek medical services across the border. The internationally advanced breast cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation integrated center, will be built to implement the Healthy China strategy with practical actions, and provide high-quality medical and health services for people in the Greater Bay Area.
